Eligibility & Criteria For UPSC IAS Exam: All Candidates must be Indian, age 21-32 (GC). Qualification requires a bachelor's degree. Attempts 6 for the GC, & unlimited for SC/ST.

The UPSC examinations are conducted in two stages, namely, Preliminary and Mains. The preliminary examination is an objective type test that consists of two papers of 200 marks each.

The mains examination consists of 9 papers of a conventional essay type with each paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks. The UPSC examination is a highly competitive one and requires the candidate to have a good knowledge of the subjects and an aptitude for problem-solving.
