It serves as the entry point for top-tier administrative services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and other Group A & B Central Services. The exam is a multi-stage process that evaluates a candidate's academic knowledge, ethical values, leadership ability, and decision-making skills. Understanding the structure of the exam is the first step to mastering it.

Stage 3: Personality Test (Interview)

The Personality Test is the final round carrying 275 marks. It is conducted at the UPSC headquarters in New Delhi and aims to assess the candidate’s personality traits such as communication skills, presence of mind, moral integrity, and administrative aptitude.

This stage is not just a question-answer session, but a holistic personality evaluation. Your final selection depends on both the Mains and Interview scores.

Final Selection

Total Marks = 2025 (Mains: 1750 + Interview: 275). Based on the total score, UPSC prepares an All India Rank (AIR) list. Services are allocated depending on your preferences and rank.
